Pro wrestling veteran and AEW star MVP appeared on an episode of the Marking Out podcast, where he covered a range of topics, including the original plan for him to win the iMPACT Wrestling World Title from Eric Young in 2014.

MVP said, โ€œI was slated to win the Impact Heavyweight Championship. I went over to the UK to do an indie loop, and the craziest thing in the world, it was a tag match. I hit the ropes and I was running my knee just went out. I didnโ€™t do anything, nobody did anything to me, it was the weirdest thing ever. I just felt my knee go out, it just hurt and wasnโ€™t working, and I fell, I rolled out to the floor, and I tried to get up and I couldnโ€™t stand, and I was like โ€˜Oh man Iโ€™m hurt.โ€™ Like โ€˜No, Iโ€™m not hurt, Iโ€™m injured.โ€™ Like I couldnโ€™t walk, and I told the ref โ€˜hey tell the boys to call an audible, I canโ€™t walk.’โ€

On how Bobby Lashley came in as his replacement:

โ€œThey asked me โ€˜Whatโ€™s your relationship with Bobby Lashley?โ€™ I said โ€˜Man thatโ€™s my boy we were tight, weโ€™re cool.โ€™ They asked โ€˜What would say if we brought him in and we do angle where you brought him in as your stand-in and he wins the title?โ€™ And I was like โ€˜Iโ€™m with it letโ€™s go.’โ€
