Maven Visits Rob Van Dam To Apologize For Controversial Podcast Comment

Former WWE star Maven recently made an unannounced trip to the home of WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam to apologize face-to-face for a comment he made on a podcast that went viral and stirred backlash. The entire encounter was documented on Maven’s official YouTube channel, showcasing the two former rivals squashing the issue in person.

The controversy stemmed from a podcast appearance where Maven was asked to name the “smelliest wrestler” he’d ever worked with. In what he later described as a misguided joke, Maven mentioned RVD—a comment that quickly circulated online and drew the attention of RVD’s wife, Katie Forbes, who voiced her displeasure on social media.

“A while back, I said something I regretted instantly,” Maven explained at the start of the video. “I came to apologize. I know I said some things that were taken the wrong way. I can make excuses all day long, but I’m a man that when you make a mistake, you apologize to someone to their face.”

Maven was first greeted by Forbes, to whom he issued an apology for any distress the remark may have caused. She then led him inside to meet with RVD, where Maven elaborated on his original intention.

“I took the question wrong,” he told RVD. “I was trying to go in this direction, right here with the question,” he said, referencing the original tone he meant to strike.

RVD accepted the apology and acknowledged the comment as an attempted joke.

“I appreciate that, dude. Yeah. No, no hard feelings,” said RVD.

The two shared a light-hearted moment as RVD poked fun at his wife’s initial reaction:

“She was crying. She lost sleep for like, about a week,” he joked.

Maven further clarified that the comment stemmed from a backstage memory of seeing RVD using baby powder, and it was meant to be playful rather than insulting.

“Contrary to popular belief, I wasn’t staring at your cock,” Maven quipped. “I just thought maybe you were on to something with the baby powder that I didn’t know about.”

In true RVD fashion, the moment ended with the duo sharing a joint, with Maven admitting it had been over 20 years since he last smoked. RVD used the opportunity to reiterate his long-standing advocacy for cannabis, explaining how he chose to speak out against cigarettes and promote the positive effects of marijuana early in his career.

The video also featured a glimpse inside RVD and Katie Forbes’ unique home, as well as a discussion of their latest business venture: OnlyWrestlers.com, a subscription-based platform that allows wrestling personalities to connect directly with their fans.
