As reported by PWMania.com, last week’s episode of WWE RAW concluded with “The Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu defeating Royce Keys in a brutal Street Fight. Following the match, Fatu continued his assault on Keys, even hitting him with a chair wrapped around his head. The attack was so extreme that Netflix censored it during their replay of RAW. WWE later released a video showing Keys being stretchered out of the arena.
During Monday’s episode of RAW, commentator Michael Cole announced that Keys is out of action indefinitely due to the attack by Fatu. He was reported to have a bruised larynx and a cervical strain. There is currently no information on when Keys might return to WWE television, but updates will be provided as they become available.
However, it appears that the injury is part of a storyline. Dave Meltzer reported in a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that it is not an injury cover angle. Keys signed with WWE in January and made his television debut at the Royal Rumble, appearing on SmackDown more than two months later. His loss to Fatu came just two days after he teamed up with LA Knight and Solo Sikoa to defeat Fatu and The Usos in a 6-Man Tag Team Match at SummerSlam Night One.
