Chelsea Green says she is ready to start a family with her husband Matt Cardona, revealing that the couple previously decided to put those plans on hold so she could pursue another run with WWE.

Speaking with Nikki Bella, the Interim WWE Women’s Champion discussed where she is now in both her career and personal life. “I’m 35. I want to start a family.”

Green said the possibility of having children has increasingly become part of everyday conversations between her and Cardona, even when they are getting annoyed with each other. “Matt and I have started this new era of, like, when we get annoyed with each other, like, it’s more of, ‘No, you need to change this because when we have kids, you cannot be doing that.’”

Green joked that Cardona has already grown tired of hearing it. “This poor man is so sick of it.”

The subject, however, goes back several years. Green revealed that she had wanted children before returning to WWE, but she and Cardona made a joint decision that she should pursue another opportunity with the company first. “I wanted to have kids five years ago, before I came back, and we decided together that I would come back to WWE so that I wouldn’t have any resentment towards us and our future family.”

That decision has now taken Green to the biggest accomplishment of her WWE career.

At SummerSlam, Green won a five-way ladder match to become Interim WWE Women’s Champion, something she referenced as having now achieved “the thing” she wanted from her return. “But now I’ve done the thing.”

With that career goal accomplished, Green said she would be delighted if starting their family became the next chapter for her and Cardona. “So, if it happens, like, God willing, I would be so—I would be so happy.”
