AEW/ROH star Zayda Steel participated in a virtual signing with Captain’s Corner, where she discussed various topics, including her involvement in the WWE ID program and how early talents were treated like guinea pigs.
Steel said, “Yeah, we were like the guinea pigs of the program; the test dummies, if you will. It’s hard out here, driving, making 20 bucks, so it was: ‘Here’s a little bit of money to help you guys weekly to get through the next week before you’re wrestling.’”
On getting help from the bigger companies while wrestling on the indies:
“I was on the indies and I know how much it sucks at times, like, working two jobs and then wrestling. It sucks! So any help from bigger companies, the merrier!”
