Two major AEW stars were notably absent from last week’s episode of Dynamite, and now we know why.
According to a report from Fightful Select, AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland was overseas attending the wedding of close friend and artist Meech Golden. As a result, Strickland was not featured on the show.
Former TBS Champion Willow Nightingale was also not in action last week, but for a very different reason — she was representing AEW at the Stanley Cup Finals as part of the company’s promotional efforts.
Both stars returned to TV this week. Strickland battled Will Ospreay to a thrilling time-limit draw in the main event of Dynamite, a result that escalated when The Young Bucks launched a post-match attack. This confrontation set up a major tag team clash for All In: Texas, scheduled for July 12.
Nightingale has remained a prominent figure across AEW and Ring of Honor programming. She recently confirmed that she’s signed a multi-year contract extension with AEW, choosing to stay with the promotion despite interest from WWE. She was also a key player in this year’s Anarchy in the Arena bout at Double or Nothing, where her team emerged victorious over The Death Riders in a chaotic intergender match.
