The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) took on The Golden Jets (“The Ocho” Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega) this past Saturday night at Full Gear in a tag team match, but came up short and per the stipulations, Jericho and Omega have now earned a future shot at the AEW World Tag Team Titles, currently held by “Absolute” Ricky Starks and Big Bill.
According to Dave Meltzer on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Young Bucks will be headed in a new direction creatively and is set to be taking some time away from the company.
It was also mentioned on the report that the idea is for Matt and Nick to return as heels with a major impact, but there is no word yet on how long they will be gone from television as what transpired over the past number of weeks is just the beginning stages of their heel turn.
“They look to be doing a heel group with Brandon Cutler,” Meltzer wrote. He also noted that Colt Cabana has been talked about for the group but his involvement is not certain.
“The idea is for them to take some time off and come back as heels with major impact,” Meltzer continued. “It’s in the beginning stages and there’s no known time frame on when they will pull the trigger on it and they will return.”
