Charlotte Flair is getting candid about the real-life relationships behind one of the most celebrated groups in WWE history — the Four Horsewomen. In a powerful and personal piece for The Players’ Tribune, the 14-time Women’s Champion addressed the complicated dynamic between herself, Becky Lynch, Bayley, and Mercedes Moné (formerly Sasha Banks).
Flair didn’t hold back when reflecting on her current standing with the other Horsewomen, admitting that the once-close bond has fractured over the years.
“We’ve definitely had our ups and downs over the years. I won’t pretend we’re best friends… or that we’re all even friends at the moment,” Flair wrote. “I won’t pretend there’s a 4HW group chat I’ll send this article to when it publishes. And thinking about it that way, it does make me sad sometimes. But I also think it’s part of life, you know? Especially at the highest levels of professional competition.”
While their personal connections may have changed, Flair made it clear that the respect and legacy they share is unshakable.
“And on a professional level?? The respect between the four of us is absolute — and the bonds we share are f***ing indestructible,” she added. “There’s not another person alive who knows what we’ve been through as a group, or what it’s taken for us to all still be active, and to all still be at the top of our games, as women working in a business that’s still learning how to treat women.”
While a reunion may not be on the cards anytime soon, three of the four Horsewomen will be featured prominently at the upcoming WWE Evolution 2 premium live event.
On the July 4th edition of SmackDown, it was announced that Charlotte Flair will team with Alexa Bliss in a Fatal Four-Way Match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Meanwhile, Becky Lynch is scheduled to defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship in a Triple Threat Match against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria.
The fourth Horsewoman, Mercedes Moné, is currently thriving in AEW, where she reigns as the TBS Champion and one of the company’s top stars.
