WWE Hall of Famer D-Von Dudley has opened up about the financial benefits of being under a WWE Legends contract, revealing that the arrangement brings in substantial royalty payments for him and his tag team partner Bubba Ray Dudley.
In a new video posted to his YouTube channel, D-Von explained how the Legends deal has allowed him to continue earning strong income from WWE through merchandise and licensing opportunities—years after his full-time in-ring career ended.
“Now, there’s a thing called a legends contract, or a legends deal, so to speak. I’m happy to say that me and Bubba [Ray Dudley] got a legends deal. We signed it about two, maybe three years ago, and going strong and making money,” D-Von shared.
The WWE Legends deal grants the company the rights to use a superstar’s name, image, and likeness for merchandise, video games, collectibles, and more. D-Von noted that these deals provide an opportunity that wrestlers in past generations never had.
“Remember back in the ’80s and ’90s—once you were done, you were done. We didn’t have anything like this. So the times have changed, and I’m definitely glad that I’ve changed with it.”
When it comes to the actual money, D-Von revealed a ballpark figure that highlights just how lucrative these deals can be for legacy stars.
“You’re still making money one way or another with the company, and most likely it’s really good money. When you start making merchandise sales, and you get more than $30,000–$40,000 a check, I mean, that’s really, really good money.”
The Dudley Boyz remain one of WWE’s most iconic tag teams, and their inclusion in action figures, retro merchandise, and video game rosters ensures their legacy—and earnings—stay alive for years to come.
