Darby Allin Recalls Sting Telling Him Not To Change A Thing About His Work

Top AEW star Darby Allin appeared on AEW Meal & a Match to talk about a number of topics, including how “The Icon” Sting told him not to change anything about how he works when they first met.

Allin said, โ€œYou know, it was weird. Way before I was told I was going to be with him, [they said], โ€˜Alright, youโ€™re just gonna sit in the rafters during the pandemic.โ€™ I didnโ€™t put two and two together because you know, I think Stingโ€™s career is over, heโ€™s not doing anything in wrestling you know? All of the sudden, โ€˜You know why youโ€™re sitting in the rafters, right?โ€™ Iโ€™m like, โ€˜No, just because it looks spooky.โ€™ Then theyโ€™re all like, โ€˜Stingโ€™s coming. We want you to be with him.โ€™ It was so intimidating to first walk up to him but then instantly heโ€™s just like, โ€˜Dude, I love everything about you. I love your aesthetic, I love your cinematic promos.โ€™ Heโ€™s like, โ€˜Donโ€™t change a thing.โ€™ I was like, โ€˜Woah, thatโ€™s crazy.โ€™ Itโ€™s such validation. But heโ€™s so giving and the fact that he trusted me with his last run is pretty wild.โ€
