WWE Hall of Famer and former WCW President Eric Bischoff took to an episode of his Strictly Business podcast, where he talked about a variety of topics. Bischoff discussed why Warner Bros. Discovery encourages AEW to produce more PPV events. He believes the reason is that Warner Bros. Discovery owns a piece of the company and since they see the revenue, Warner wants a share of it otherwise it wouldn’t make a difference, and they wouldn’t care.
Bischoff said, โMy first thought is, why? Why would Warner Discovery encourage AEW to produce more pay-per-views? I guess itโs because Warner Discovery owns a piece, they see the revenue and they want a share of it. Iโm guessing they do right now, you donโt hear a lot of that chatter. But Iโm guessing that Warner Discovery probably owns a piece of AEW, thatโs part of their overall deal and as such, sees revenue potential there that is readily available and they want at it. If thatโs the case, then Iโm more convinced than ever that Warner Discovery owns a piece of AEW as we speak and are looking for revenue upside. Otherwise, why would they care?โ
โIโm absolutely convinced because otherwise it wouldnโt make any difference, why would they care? If theyโre not getting a piece of the action, all they care about is television ratings. Since theyโre looking for content other than television, thereโs no other reason why theyโd be interested unless theyโre getting a taste.โ
