WWE Hall of Famer and former WCW President Eric Bischoff recently took part in a virtual signing with K&S WrestleFest, where he talked about a number of topics including who he would like to see “The Icon” Sting face in his retirement match.
Bischoff said, โRic Flair [smiles] I donโt know if thatโs gonna happen, but thatโs what Iโd like to see. You didnโt ask me if who I think it would be. You asked me who Iโd like to see. Iโd like to see [Sting face] Ric Flair.โ
How Sting could battle Chris Jericho in his retirement match as there is history between The Icon and Jericho:
Bischoff said, โI donโt know. Chris Jericho? I donโt think theyโve ever had a match, and thereโs history there. Thatโd be kind of cool. Iโm sure there would be a great story with Darby Allin, right? So it depends on what youโre going for and how you want to present it. Do you want to present it as part of an angle or a storyline, or do you want to present it just as a celebration, acknowledging everything that Stingโs done, which is what I suspect that theyโll do, and itโll be more of a dream match kind of format or presentation, which, thereโs nothing wrong with that, in my opinion in this case.โ
The possibility of Sting staying with AEW following his retirement match:
Bischoff said, โOh yeahโฆ.Could he [stay with AEW]? Probably if he wanted to, but I donโt think think he needs the money, and I donโt think he needs the money, and I think heโs physically got to the point, and just at his age, much like I am, I say I donโt want to be away from home.โ
