GCW Homecoming Night 2 Review – August 20, 2023
Tony Deppen vs. Brayden Toon
Tony Deppen & Brayden Toon exchanged forceful offensive strikes & attempting to break free from Toon’s grip Deppen gets hit with a high angle suplex that led to a float over a vertical suplex as he gets dumped on his head & which sends Deppen to the outside Toon executed a springboard suplex from the bottom rope.
Toon followed up with a Swanton Bomb & it gets near fall and both men engage in an uppercut exchange at the ring’s center but neither could secure a definitive upper hand. Toon hoisted Deppen into the air with a powerbomb before Deppen hits a running double knee strike for a near fall.
Toon with a running shooting star press only for Deppen to avoid a pinfall then Deppen sends Toon into the referee and delivering a knee strike to the back of Toon’s head to get the win.

8 Person Tag Team Match
Thrunt (Effy, Allie Katch, Dark Sheik & Sawyer Wreck) vs. Brat Pack (Marcus Mathers, Leon Slater, Brogan Finlay & Starboy Charlie)
Effy & Marcus Mathers starts the match as they engaged in a test of strength which Effy won due to his height and strength advantage. Effy does some psychological tactics against Mathers then ascended to the top rope and executed a leaping crossbody but Effy capitalized on the momentum as he quickly regaining his footing and countering with an atomic drop on Mathers.
Allie Katch tags in as did Starboy Charlie & They initiated a waist lock exchange followed by Charlie hitting back handsprings and a shooting star press then Leon Slater subsequently entered the fray as did Dark Sheik. Sheik evaded attacks and unleashed a series of kicks, targeting Slater’s legs as she goes for attempted running boot in the corner that Slater dodged.
Slater trips up Sheik then delivered a substantial splash & it gets a near fall then Brogan Finlay leaped off the top rope with an axe handle inadvertently striking Slater instead then Slater & Finlay executed a double dropkick on Sawyer Wreck before she hits a double chokeslam then an attempt to double chokeslam on Charlie & Mathers but they hit a suplex.
Sheik returns to the ring assertively delivering a combination of kicks to Starboy and Mathers effectively maintaining control before Thrunt took turns unleashing their assault on Marcus Mathers. Slater executed a dynamic crossbody off the top rope followed by a superkick from Mathers that sent Wreck to the outside.
Finlay & Slater followed with a relentless series of running maneuvers then Sheik found herself perched atop the top rope and Charlie seized the opportunity by landing a leaping head kick.
Sheik kicks out of the pin attempt. Effy received the hot tag & he neutralizing both Slater & Mathers then Bussy hits 2 Gay Powertrip but once again Slater & Mathers kicks out. Slater found himself cornered and positioned atop the turnbuckle only to be subjected to a Death Valley Driver by Finlay on the apron.
Slater connected with a mighty boot on Katch while the remaining members of Thrunt delivered a superkick to Sheik. Brat Pack asserted their dominance by collectively launching into a series of dives to the outside.
Charlie executed a Phoenix Splash then Finlay delivered an elbow, Mathers followed suit with an elbow strike and Slater rounded it off with his Swanton 450 Splash then a pin attempt utilizing a stack pin maneuver was initiated but the remaining members of Thrunt makes the save for Effy.
Bussy executed a devastating doomsday Sack Ryder then Sheik followed with a top rope leg drop and Wreck with a decisive tree slam on Mathers gets the win.

Maki Itoh vs. Becca
Becca attacks Maki Itoh to a barrage of strikes. Itoh attempted to take Becca down with a shoulder tackle but fails so Itoh playfully goaded Becca into another attempt. Itoh deftly trips Becca and delivered a headbutt.
Becca rallies & hits missile dropkick to Itoh followed by a running uppercut in the corner then Becca executed a dropkick to the back of Itoh’s head then a leg lariat that for a near fall.
Itoh with 10 punches in the corner follow by with a boot scrape and a draping DDT executed on the ring frame then rolls Becca back into the ring Itoh locks in a Boston Crab but Becca reaches the ropes and subsequently ascend to the 2nd rope & hits a flying elbow that transitioned into a TKO then goes for the cover but Itoh kicks out.
Becca scaled the top rope in an attempt to hit a 450 splash but Itoh moves out of harm’s way then Itoh ascended the turnbuckle only to miss a diving headbutt and gets hit with a Death Valley Driver.
Becca once again climbed the ropes to execute a 450 splash but Itoh sidesteps it & hits a series of DDTs followed by Itoh Special for the submission win.

Dragon Kid vs. Komander
Dragon Kid managed to take Komander down with headscissors before Komander counters with a lucha arm drag and transitioned into a submission hold.
Dragon Kid with a midsection kick on Komander before Kid follow up with a flurry of knee strikes against Komander propelling him face first into the turnbuckle.
Kid then hits a dropkick in the corner as he targets Komander’s chest and face then goes for the cover but he kicks out.
Dragon Kid works on Komander’s legs but he reaches the ropes to break the hold before he avoids a head kick and counters with a springboard dropkick as he sends Dragon Kid to the outside. Komander Dragon Kid with a rope walk senton followed by a delayed vertical suplex & Dragon Kid kicks out at two count.
Komander delivered a forearm shot to Dragon Kid’s head and proceeded to lock him in the Romero Special but Dragon Kid responded with a rapid chinbreaker.
Komander counters a 619 attempt with a dropkick to Dragon Kid’s knees. Komander then ascended to the top rope but Dragon Kid met him up there as he hits a super rana that sent Komander down to the mat & he gets a 2 count.
Dragon Kid hits a West Coast Pop for a 2 count & that leads to an intense exchange of strikes at the center of the ring. Komander executed a torture rack into a gutbuster immediately followed by a sit out Falcon Arrow & Dragon Kid kicks out yet again. Komander climbs the top rope and hits a rope walk shooting star press for the win.

GCW World Title Match
Blake Christian (c) vs. Masha Slamovich
Masha Slamovich struck Blake Christian with a missile dropkick while he was still being introduced immediately launching into a dominant display. She unleashed a series of spin kicks targeting Christian’s head followed by a dive to the outside.
Continuing her assault on Christian Slamovich inflicted a series of forehand chops and forcefully drove him into one of the pillars within the arena. Christian managed to reverse Slamovich’s momentum by executing a vertical suplex and sending her against the pillar.
After returning her to the ring Christian found himself caught by a baseball slide to the side of his head. Slamovich attempted to follow up with a slam but Christian intervened by pushing her into the ring post and slams her onto the apron.
He targeting Slamovich’s back by executing a snap German suplex then Slamovich returns to her feet then delivers Kawada Kicks to Christian before he sends her to the outside & traps her head within the ring frame and striking her head with a steel chair.
Christian continued his offensive by slamming Slamovich’s head into the turnbuckle and delivering repeated kicks to the back of her head. Slamovich with some barrage of kicks to Christian’s body before a head kick gets a near fall.
Christian twisted Slamovich up followed by a grounded snapmare follow by a kick to the back of her head then connects with a bottom rope 619. Christian’s attempt at a springboard 450 splash gets counter & that allows Slamovich to bounce Christian’s head off the top turnbuckle multiple times.
Christian regained control by hitting Slamovich with an Ace Crusher then goes for the cover but Slamovich kicks out.
A door was introduced into the ring & it gets set up in a corner by Christian so Slamovich seized the momentum, executing a sit out powerbomb that dumps Christian on his head and neck. Christian answered back with a half & half suplex then goes for an Air Raid Crash attempt. Slamovich counters and puts him through the door but Christian managed to kick out.
Slamovich locks in a chokehold but Christian thwarted her efforts by driving her into the corner and inadvertently sandwiching the referee. Christian grabs the GCW World Title and Akira enters ringside by attacking Christian with a series of strikes followed by a German suplex.
Akira has the GCW World Title and charged at Christian but he dodges it & Akira hits Slamovich & Christian sends him to the floor with a superkick then Christian drags her to the center of the ring by hitting her with a springboard 450 splash then goes for the cover but Slamovich kicks out at 1.
Christian attempted a superkick which was interrupted by Akria grabbing his ankle while Slamovich held his back & she locks in a chokehold but Christian reaches the bottom rope but Slamovich managed to pull him back into the center of the ring and reapply the choke.
The referee began the arm drop sequence but here comes SDL faction intervened by pulling the referee out of the ring. Slamovich continued to choke out SDL members but gets nailed with a Curb Stomp from Christian to get the win.

Fatal 4 Way 6 Man Tag Team Match
Extreme Champion Joey Janela, Ninja Mack & Dante Leon vs. Los Macizos (Ciclope & Miedo Extremo) & Jimmy Lloyd vs. Alec Price, Cole Radrick & Shane Mercer vs. Arez, Gringo Loco & Jack Cartwheel
Match starts off with a brawl erupted both inside & outside the ring. Jack Cartwheel, Joey Janela, Jimmy Lloyd & Shane Mercer found themselves in the ring as they collectively engaging in cartwheel maneuvers. Los Macizos enters the ring & they participate in the Spirit Squad toss spot.
Arez executed a step up flip dive to the floor and Gringo Loco climbs to the top to deliver an inside out moonsault to the outside. Loco, Arez & Cartwheel united to target Lloyd as they executing a coordinated assault that featured Cartwheel’s Death Valley Driver then Arez running across Lloyd’s back and Loco hits top rope senton.
Los Macizos re enters the ring by hitting a trio’s move against Cartwheel then Ninja Mack, Dante Leon & Janela enters the fray as they bombarding Ciclope with a series of lariats while Mack executed a twisting press across Ciclope’s chest.
Cole Radrick with a driver on Ciclope & Janela dispatched Radrick to the outside then 3 guys made their way back into the ring & they are overwhelming Janela with a series of maneuvers. Mack & Cartwheel teamed up for stereo Sasuke Specials to the outside.
While Ninja Mack evaded Cartwheel’s offense he fell victim to a Cartwheel Driver. Cartwheel went for the pin but Leon intervened with a flying dive off the top rope & that breaks up the pin attempt.
A tower of doom spot unfolded with Alec Price executing a blockbuster from the top rope & that takes out multiple competitors. Lloyd & Janela continued their brawl on the apron.
Janela managed to strike Lloyd with an elbow then he puts Lloyd on his shoulders then Cartwheel utilized Lloyd’s back as a launching pad for a corkscrew dive to the floor. Janela brought Lloyd back into the ring and attempted a double stomp but Loco with a Spanish Fly that almost gets the win.
Loco began to stretch Janela’s arm while Radrick imposed a chinlock. Mercer locks in a Figure 4 and a pair of arm bars were applied. A triangle choke followed suit and Ciclope rounded off the submission sequence with a rather unconventional thumb to Arez’s bum.
Arez hits a destroyer to Lloyd then Mercer hits Price with a Destroyer then Mack gets hit with a Price Cutter and Ciclope delivered a top rope destroyer on Mack. Leon followed suit by connecting a destroyer on Extremo.
Cartwheel remained in the ring and executed a Sasuke Special into a destroyer on Leon & they crash onto everyone outside the ring.
Janela stood alone in the ring, only to be struck by Referee Ryan T with a destroyer while Ryan T celebrated, Mercer re enters the ring. Ryan T pleaded with Mercer to spare him and as Mercer turned his back Loco capitalized by hitting a springboard destroyer on Mercer to get the victory.
Winners: Arez, Gringo Loco & Jack Cartwheel (11:12)

Santana Jackson vs. Haley Dylan
Haley Dylan attempted a knuckle lock but Santana Jackson opted for dancing instead. Dylan retaliated by slapping Jackson across the face only to be met with an uppercut followed by a flurry of chops in the corner.
Jackson showcased his agility by walking the ropes and hitting a Lucha arm drag on Dylan then Jackson’s attempt at a DDT was counter as Haley connects with headscissors followed by a codebreaker and a Shining Wizard that got a 2 count.
Dylan stomps on Jackson’s hat and proceeding to choke him across the 2nd rope punctuating her attack with a series of elbows to his jaw then a bridging suplex by Dylan momentarily seemed to have Jackson at a disadvantage but he exhibited resilience by kicking out once again.
Jackson rallied by delivering a sequence of spinning clotheslines and aiming for his signature MJ elbow drop but Dylan moves out of the way. Dylan unleashed a combination of strikes on Jackson followed by a German suplex and a leaping forearm in the corner.
She attempted a Rainmaker but Jackson counters with a spear then hits moonwalk DDT to put away Dylan.

GCW Tag Team Titles Match
East West Express (Jordan Oliver & Nick Wayne) (c) vs. Takashi Sasaki & Toru Sugiura
Jordan Oliver & Takashi Sasaki kicks this match off then Sasaki backs Oliver up against the ropes and made a clean break before they lock up again & Oliver grabs a waist lock but Sasaki was able to grab Oliver’s wrist. They traded wrist lock and submission maneuvers with neither man able to get a real advantage.
Sasaki tags in Toru Sugiura & Oliver tags in Nick Wayne & Sugiura grabs a headlock and took Wayne off his feet with a shoulder block but Wayne returned the favor with running headscissors. Sasaki ate double boots from East West Express & Sugiura met the same fate.
Sasaki & Sugiura made frequent tags as they both continued to target the injured leg of Oliver before he eventually made the hot tag to Nick Wayne & he took out Sasaki with a stunner/DDT combination but it got a two count.
East West Express went for double Clout Cutters but Sugiura hits a low bridge as Sasaki used a steel chair to work over the injured knee of Oliver then Violento Jack hits Wayne with a steel chair to his gut followed by a Package Piledriver on a chair gets the win.
Winners & New GCW Tag Team Champions: Takashi Sasaki & Toru Sugiura (11:43) (NEW CHAMPIONS!!!!)

Ultraviolent Title Match
Rina Yamashita (c) vs. Violento Jack
Rina Yamashita rushes the ring and broke a bundle of tubes over Violento Jack’s head then Yamashita started to carve away at Jack’s head with the broken end of a tube but Jack responded with a tube assisted headbutt as they traded forearms in the center of the ring as the crew continued to bring out various forms of weaponry.
Yamashita locks in the testicular claw and took Jack off of his feet with a clothesline then she tried to put Jack through a pane of glass but he put on the brakes and powerbombs through the pane. Jack picks up a steel chair and piled the broken glass into a pile in the corner and slams Yamashita’s face into the pile of broken glass.
Yamashita fired up and hit a vertical suplex onto a bundle of tubes as she grabs more tubes and proceeded to break them over Jack’s head and crotch but somehow Jack was able to get his shoulder up at 2. Jack hits a tube assisted Rock Bottom and Yamashita went to the floor and hit Jack over the head with a steel chair, they started to battle on the apron.
Jack puts Yamashita on his shoulders and hits a Finlay Roll off the apron through the glass and door bridge on the floor. Yamashita places a bundle of tubes across Jack’s chest and came off the top rope with a splash but Jack held on and plants her with a brainbuster.
He kicked a bundle of tubes into her chest but Yamashita managed to get him up on her shoulders and dumps him with an air raid crash onto a pile of broken glass. Jack set up a glass bridge in the center of the ring then he places her on the top rope and levels her with an overhand chop.
Jack went to superplex Yamashita off the top rope but Yamashita blocks it and broke a bundle over Jack’s back then she took him off the top rope with Splash Mountain through the glass but Jack kicks out and locks her in a submission hold but Yamashita used a leverage pin to get the victory.
Winner & Still Ultraviolent Champion: Rina Yamashita (19:56) (STILL CHAMPION!!!!!)

After the match Jack continued to beat up Yamashita as we see Takashi Sasaki, Nick Gage, John Wayne Murdoch & Toru Sugiura all returned still brawling from before. Big Vin led his crew down to the ring to try and separate all the parties. The crowd chanted to let them fight. Gage grabs the mic and challenged Team Freedoms to an War Games Match.
