Impact Wrestling Review – June 29, 2023

X Division Title Match
Chris Sabin (c) vs. Trey Miguel

Chris Sabin runs towards Trey Miguel on the apron and Miguel jumps out of the way as Sabin slides under him and drops him face first onto the apron. Back in the ring and Sabin flips Miguel over his head. Miguel hits a basement dropkick on Sabin and covers for a two count.

Miguel unloads punches on Sabin and hits a Death Valley Driver for a two count then Miguel goes for a springboard moonsault but Sabin moves out of the way. Sabin kicks Miguel’s face in the corner and takes him to the top rope and hits a superplex for a two count.

Sabin goes for the Cradle Shock but Miguel gets out of it and hits a stomp onto Sabin’s back for a two count. Miguel goes for the Lightning Spiral but Sabin drops him knee first and gets a STF but Miguel gets to the ropes.

Miguel gets a hurricanrana and goes to the top rope for a Meteora but Sabin counters it into a crossface and goes for a Cradle Shock but Zachary Wentz comes in and attacks Sabin & the referee calls for the bell.

Winner By DQ & Still X Division Champion: Chris Sabin (STILL CHAMPION!!!!!)

Trey Miguel seems shocked at first but then does The Rascalz handshake and they attack Sabin until Impact World Champion Alex Shelley runs in and The Rascalz retreat.

Backstage Trey Miguel reintroduces Zachary Wentz. Wentz says he will always have his brother’s back.

Trinity vs. Jai Vidal

Trinity hits a dropkick on Jai Vidal then Vidal gets out of the ring. Trinity hits a basement dropkick. Trinity throws him into the ring but Savannah Evans catches her & Vidal pulls her down by the hair. Vidal drops an elbow for a two count.

Vidal runs at Trinity in the corner but Trinity counters it into a pin for a two count. Trinity hits a springboard single leg dropkick for a two count.

Trinity goes to the top rope and hits a crossbody before Trinity grabs Vidal on the apron and spikes him & locks in Starstruck for the win.

Winner By Submission: Trinity

After the match Gisele Shaw & Savannah Evans attack Trinity & Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo leaves the announcers’ table and watches them at first before getting in the ring and throwing Shaw & Evans out.

Brain Myers walks in backstage with The Good Hands and finds Moose and Myers says he knew Moose would come to his senses and they will win the Impact World Tag Team Titles. Moose tells Myers he’s right but looks at The Good Hands and advises him to lose the dead weight. Hotch says they just got jobbed.

We see footage of Johnny Swinger vs Bhupinder Gujjar from Before The Impact where referee Zicky Dice did a fast count.

Johnny Swinger & Zicky Dice are backstage and a referee walks up to them and says Swinger’s win on Gujjar has been overturned.

Lio Rush vs. Jack Price

Jack Price runs into Lio Rush in the corner but Rush flips him over and kicks him with a back heel. Price tries to powerbomb him but Rush gets out of it and swings around the ring post. Rush goes to the top rope and hits Final Hour for the win.

Winner: Lio Rush

They show a promo from Dirty Dango who says Santino Marella got his break in the business when Jim Cornette slap him in front of the boys. He asks if his daughter Bianca gets slaps around down there.

Santino Marella says he will kick Dango’s ass.

Frankie Kazarian finds Eddie Edwards backstage and says he can’t believe Edwards would lie on Killer Kowalski’s name. Edwards asks if Kazarian questions his judgment. He says he tried to team with Kazarian but maybe they’re better off as opponents.

Knockouts Tag Team Champion Kilynn King vs. Masha Slamovich

Kilynn King goes for a basement dropkick on Masha Slamovich but Slamovich counters with a kick and hits a basement dropkick of her own. Slamovich looks to hit the suicide dive but King catches her. King throws her into the corner. Taylor Wilde pulls her against the ropes when the referee isn’t looking then King hits a clothesline for a two count.

King clothesline Slamovich in the corner and hit a back elbow then she hits a Death Valley Driver for a two count. Slamovich runs into King into the corner but King flips her over and Wilde throws Slamovich into the ring post.

King goes for Kingdom Falls but Killer Kelly comes out and chokes Wilde with a chain then Slamovich hits the Snowplow for the win.

Winner: Masha Slamovich

After the match Slamovich & Killer Kelly face off. Masha takes Kelly’s chain and wraps it around her neck and they walk off together.

A promo airs for Scott D’Amore where Shelley, Sabin, Tommy Dreamer and Kushida talk about D’Amore’s impact on the industry and all the wrestlers he has trained.

Backstage Gia Miller is with Scott D’Amore and she asks D’Amore if he is ready to step into the ring. D’Amore says he feels great and he has been training with Motor City Machine Guns. Gia Miller talks about Darren McCarthy as the Special Enforcer. D’Amore asks why that is even needed. The Good Hands come up and says their bad luck started with him. D’Amore says he doesn’t have the power anymore but he’ll talk to the higher ups about booking them in a 2 On 1 Handicap match against PCO.

Kenny King vs. Yuya Uemura

Yuya Uemura goes for a bulldog but Kenny King pushes him off then King gets Uemura in a stretch and goes for a butterfly suplex but Uemura fights out of it. King hits a spinebuster for a two count.

Uemura hits a dropkick and scoop slam followed by a bulldog for a two count then King goes for a stalling suplex but Uemura reverses it into a DDT as we go to commercial break.

After the break Uemura drops King with forearms and goes to the top ropes but King catches him and goes for a superplex but Uemura pushes him off and goes for the crossbody but King moves out of the way. Uemura hits forearms on King but King hits a kick then Royal Flush for the win.

Winner: Kenny King

After the match Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry comes out and says he brought a gift and it’s time Kenny King got some respect around here and for that reason he has prepared a special music video for him. The music video says he has been wrestling for a long time and could have been champion but the most successful he has ever been was when he was a male stripper then the fans chant Stripper Kenny.

Nick Aldis comes out and says people have been demanding an explanation for what he did to Alex Shelley. He says he needs Alex Shelley to come out so he can explain it to his face. Shelley comes out and says Aldis is standing in his ring. Shelley says nobody cares about his explanation. Aldis says he attacks Jimmy Jacobs and he turned this into an unsafe working environment. Aldis says he has a seat for Shelley in the crowd. Shelley says it would be an honor to sit among the Impact fans. Aldis says Shelley is starting to believe in his own hype. He calls the 10 Person Tag Team match a debacle. He brought up how Aldis was there for the tag but Shelley had to do all his cool moves and that was an effort by him and Sabin to humiliate him so Aldis said enough about the good guy stuff. He says Shelley has been in the business for 10 years and Shelley has been trying to get guys like him out like a fake revolutionary. He says he got to the World Title faster than he did. He says he was getting endorsed by the likes of Harley Race & Ric Flair and at Slammiversary the transitional champion reign is over. He says he has to humiliate Alex Shelley. Shelley tells him to shut up. Shelley challenged Aldis to shut him up. Aldis walks up to Shelley & Shelley unloads punches on Aldis. Aldis rakes the eyes and throws Shelley into the ring post. Sabin runs out and Aldis retreats. Lio Rush comes out and attacks Sabin. Aldis & Rush attack them simultaneously.

Aldis gets the Impact World Title. Rush hits Sabin with the X-Division Title then Aldis & Rush leave the ring with Motor City Machine Guns laying there.
