WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett, who is also All Elite Wrestlingโ€™s Director of Business Development, took to an episode of his โ€œMy World with Jeff Jarrettโ€ podcast, where he talked about a number of topics including Dixie Carterโ€™s power play that led to his first TNA departure.

Jarrett said, โ€œDixie knew the Kurt-Karen relationship. The marriage had long been over way before this when it became โ€” you know, when me and Karen started dating, Dixie maneuvered herself, and Iโ€™ve said it multiple times on the podcast. She took this opportunity to do her power play.โ€

On how his TNA TV return in 2009 came about:

โ€œWe had the Hulk meeting, and โ€˜Hey, Jeff, weโ€™re just kind of trying to work through things.โ€™ And she would try to throw heat on the attorneys, and, โ€˜We just donโ€™t know.โ€™ And she tried to throw heat on Kurt. Kurt didnโ€™t give two shits about itโ€ฆ that relationship was long over. It was what it was, move on down the road. And so she kind of gave me the runaround on different answers, but I didnโ€™t ask. Because at that time I was like, โ€˜Okay, hereโ€™s โ€” Iโ€™m still the single largest shareholder of of the organization. Weโ€™re going to come to some kind of either agreement or separation. Letโ€™s just kind of play this out.โ€™ And one afternoon, one night, I get a call from Vince Russo. โ€˜Bro, whatโ€™s up?โ€™ โ€˜Hey, Vince. Whatโ€™s going on?โ€™ โ€˜Hey, this is kind of what weโ€™re thinking.โ€™ โ€˜Okay. โ€˜Well, weโ€™ve got Hulk and Eric in, and at this timeโ€™โ€ฆ I asked Vince and heโ€™s like, โ€˜Hey, man, we want to bring you back creatively as a talent.โ€™ And Iโ€™m like, โ€˜Okay, do you know any other things?โ€™ And he goes, โ€˜My understanding, the lawyerโ€™s going to call you and kind of deliver you.โ€™ So Iโ€™ll jump into that real quick. A lawyer eventually called and said, โ€˜Youโ€™re going to start back in January. Hereโ€™s what we want you to focus on: live events and international. We think you can be โ€” you know, help the company out the most there.โ€™ I said, โ€˜I actually agree with you. Because I kind of see the writing on the wall. And youโ€™re going to have Russo in there, youโ€™re going to have Hulk in there.โ€™ Before even Eric was a part of it, I knew Eric was basically working for Hulk. And then of course Dixie โ€” you could just see all of the pieces of the puzzle moving downโ€ฆ So Iโ€™m gonna work on international and live events. And it was really odd that the way Russo teed it up. โ€˜Hey, man, this is โ€” we want to bring you back under this and the new regime, andโ€ฆโ€™ โ€˜Okay.โ€™ At this point, I wasnโ€™t told about the six-sided ring. I wasnโ€™t told about just the positioning or anything. It was, โ€˜Hey, we want to bring you back.โ€™ And thatโ€™s when it was, โ€˜Hey, manโ€™โ€“ and again, I think we joked about this. I think Iโ€™d gone a couple of days without shaving. And, โ€˜We want you to have a look that youโ€™re kind of โ€” you know, just disheveled and not really engaged in work at all.โ€™ Iโ€™m like, โ€˜Okay.โ€™ I said, โ€˜Vince, I donโ€™t grow a very good beard, but Iโ€™ll do my best.โ€™โ€

On not doing a straight series of matches with Kurt Angle when he returned:

โ€œDixie was afraid of itโ€ฆ Dixie despised Karen, that simple. For real. Vince Russo, when he called me the first night, โ€˜Bro, the money is Jeff, Kurt and Karen.โ€™ I canโ€™t do the accent. โ€˜Okay. Where are we going to go with this?โ€™ โ€˜Well, bro, we gotta get you back in here first.’โ€
