Jim Ross Talks About “Connecting The Dots” When Telling Stories On Commentary

Jim Ross was glad to be back at the commentary desk last week.

On the latest episode of his “Grilling J.R.” podcast, the WWE Hall of Fame legend and All Elite Wrestling commentator said he enjoyed being back at work, calling the main event on AEW Collision.

“It was great,” he said. “It was absolutely great. You always wonder if you can maintain your timing and how you’re gonna fit in with two new guys, Ian [Riccaboni] and Nigel [McGuinness]. I had fun working with those guys. They did a good job. They’re prepared, they’re unselfish, they listen.”

Ross would go on to explain how listening to your co-commentators helps you connect the dots better when handling story-telling.

“That’s one of the key things about announcing is listening to your partner or partners so that you can connect the dots and not leave someone hanging,” he said. “So I had fun. I had a good time. The match that we had, CM Punk and Ricky Starks, with [Ricky] Steamboat, was excellent.”
