Questions about Jon Moxley’s AEW status are slowly being answered.
Although FTR put over Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli at Revolution, fans have been wondering why FTR is competing in the AEW Tag Team Title Tournament while Moxley and Claudio are not.
According to a previous update, no one in AEW knew why they weren’t added to the tournament before it was revealed Moxley is currently absent from AEW TV due to planned time off, and the duo was not going to be available during the tournament.
Aside from AEW, Moxley has bookings in Mexico next week, in addition to his NJPW commitment. His match in Mexico was scheduled more than a month ago.
Dave Meltzer wrote in the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Moxley has been banged up lately.
Meltzer stated, “So they were taken out, but it’s actually for the better because they can be used to face the winners after the tournament and won’t have had a loss in the tournament and you need to have something for the winners.”
