AEW President Tony Khan recently took to his official Twitter (X) account and revealed that Japanese pro wrestling legend and former ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata has officially signed a contract with the company and is All Elite.
Khan wrote, “It’s official: @K_Shibata2022 is ALL ELITE! Welcome to @AEW for one of the greatest fighters + champions ever in wrestling, legend Katsuyori Shibata! Thank you @njpwglobal for making it possible!”
Shibata began his pro wrestling career in NJPW in 1999, then returned to the company in 2012 after a long hiatus and became one of the promotion’s biggest stars. Shibata’s career nearly ended in 2017 after an epic matchup with Kazuchika Okada, but he has since been regularly appearing for AEW/ROH. He recently had to return to Japan, but is now an official member of the AEW roster.
