Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, also known as Austin Creed, are reportedly expected to join AEW following their departures from WWE earlier this year.
The New Day members mutually agreed to part ways with WWE in May. Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline previously reported that Kingston and Creed were asked to restructure their contracts but were unhappy with the proposed deals and were subsequently granted their releases.
Now, Fightful Select reports that while its sources would not confirm that the pair have officially signed AEW contracts, the expectation is that they will be joining the company soon.
“While sources wouldn’t outright confirm that Austin Creed and Kofi have signed with AEW, it was noted to Fightful Select that it’s expected that they are joining the company soon.”
That report has naturally fueled speculation about whether Kingston and Creed could appear at AEW All In 2026 at Wembley Stadium on August 30.
This week’s Dynamite provided fans with another potential connection.
During the August 12 episode, Swerve Strickland confronted AEW Trios Champions “Hangman” Adam Page and Brodido. The Demand subsequently mocked Swerve over his lack of partners, leading some fans on social media to suggest Kingston and Creed as possible teammates.
There is some history between Swerve and Kingston. Swerve previously gave Kofi a shout-out during a February 2024 episode of AEW Collision, long before Kingston’s WWE departure.
There is currently nothing to indicate that the Dynamite segment was deliberately designed to tease Kingston and Creed, however, and neither AEW nor the wrestlers have announced a deal.
The pair are already scheduled to appear in an event connected to another prominent AEW name later this year.
Kingston and Creed will be guests aboard Chris Jericho’s next Rock ’N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea. The seventh edition of Jericho’s wrestling cruise will sail from Miami, Florida, to Bimini, Bahamas, from November 7 through November 11.
For now, an AEW signing and an All In appearance remain unconfirmed, but Fightful’s report indicates that Kingston and Creed joining the promotion is expected to happen soon.
