Mariah May Recalls Wanting To Get Into The Wrestling Industry After She Left School

AEW Womenโ€™s World Champion Mariah May appeared on Rasslinโ€™ with Brandon Walker to talk about a number of topics, including how she initially wanted to get into the wrestling industry right after she left school.

May said, โ€œI just wanted to be a wrestler, and then when I left school I actually worked in accountancy. I still really wanted to wrestle, but obviously in the U.K., itโ€™s not as big. Itโ€™s harder to find places to train and to actually just work.โ€

On being offered an AEW deal in early 2023:

โ€œThere were still personal things I wanted to do and achieve. And just to improve as well, because they have a dojo there, so itโ€™s really intense training.โ€

On her quick rise in AEW:

โ€œI always knew from the start. When I started training, there [were] no girls, so I got a little bit of a benefit. I donโ€™t look in-bred, so I [got] a little bit of the benefit there, too, which a lot of girls in wrestling arenโ€™t good looking.โ€
