WWE star Matt Cardona recently announced on his Twitter (X) account that he suffered an injury while wrestling on Friday, August 21st. He revealed that he tore his triceps during the match and shared a photo of his swollen arm caused by the injury.

Cardona wrote, “I wish my arm was this jacked. Unfortunately, it’s just swollen because I tore my tricep in a match on Friday night. (I still went to the gym today and did legs) I’ll keep you updated. I’M NOT FINISHED.”

Cardona reportedly faced Kit Wilson in a WWE Main Event match that was taped prior to SmackDown on Friday, according to F4WOnline.com. This is where the injury occurred. The setback follows Cardona’s involvement in a significant storyline on the August 14 edition of SmackDown, which featured his real-life wife, WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green, and GUNTHER. As part of this storyline, Cardona competed in a match against GUNTHER, which GUNTHER won.

Depending on the severity of the tear, a partial triceps tear may take 8 to 12 weeks to heal. If Cardona requires surgery to repair the injury, the recovery time could be significantly longer. This injury is a major setback for the former WWE United States and Intercontinental Champion, especially since he made his official return to WWE earlier this year after signing a new contract with the company.
