Pro wrestling veteran and AEW star MVP appeared on an episode of the Marking Out podcast, where he covered a range of topics, including the original plan for him to win the iMPACT Wrestling World Title from Eric Young in 2014.
MVP said, โI was slated to win the Impact Heavyweight Championship. I went over to the UK to do an indie loop, and the craziest thing in the world, it was a tag match. I hit the ropes and I was running my knee just went out. I didnโt do anything, nobody did anything to me, it was the weirdest thing ever. I just felt my knee go out, it just hurt and wasnโt working, and I fell, I rolled out to the floor, and I tried to get up and I couldnโt stand, and I was like โOh man Iโm hurt.โ Like โNo, Iโm not hurt, Iโm injured.โ Like I couldnโt walk, and I told the ref โhey tell the boys to call an audible, I canโt walk.’โ
On how Bobby Lashley came in as his replacement:
โThey asked me โWhatโs your relationship with Bobby Lashley?โ I said โMan thatโs my boy we were tight, weโre cool.โ They asked โWhat would say if we brought him in and we do angle where you brought him in as your stand-in and he wins the title?โ And I was like โIโm with it letโs go.’โ
