It’s been a few months since AEW released CM Punk from his contract, but there’s still a lot of speculation about his pro wrestling future, with some fans on social media believing he’ll return soon.

For those who haven’t been following Punk on social media, a significant number of fans believe he will return to wrestling but not to WWE.

TNA Impact Wrestling President Scott D’Amore said the following to PWMania.com when he was asked about Punk: “It’s not a secret, CM Punk was backstage the day after Bound for Glory. That’s nothing new. He was backstage earlier this year when he was under contract at AEW and they were just getting ready for the debut of Collision, so we have a pretty open policy. If you want to come by and visit, as long as you’re respectful to our crew, you will be respected. He was a pleasure to have when he came around, so is there a possibility he is here in the future, you never know. Is there going to be a place for veteran talent and senior talent in TNA wrestling? Of course, you know, the value can’t be understated of good senior veteran talent right now with name recognition and drawability as well. The door is open.”

In recent weeks, there has been a growing belief that the Devil in AEW is actually Punk and that his release is merely a work of art. There is no evidence that this is the case but in wrestling you never say never and anything is possible. That being said, if there is significant work with Punk, it implies that they would have had to keep this a secret from almost everyone in the company.

Punk used Instagram to post a photo of Ric Flair just before he was revealed to be the Black Scorpion in 1991, as seen below.

Punk news has remained constant. According to the latest reports, he wants to return to WWE, however company officials have declined to sign him, but that could change. PWMania.com haven’t heard anything else about Punk and Tony Khan talking.

Some names that have been mentioned as possible candidates for the Devil mask include Adam Cole, Britt Baker, and MJF himself.
