The official cause of death for WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has been confirmed as an acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, according to a new report from The New York Post’s Page Six.
Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, passed away on Thursday, July 24, at age 71, after going into cardiac arrest at his Clearwater, Florida home. Emergency services responded and transported him to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Pinellas County Forensic Science Center determined that Hogan’s death was the result of a heart attack. The report lists two serious contributing health factors:
A history of atrial fibrillation (AFib), an irregular heart rhythm that increases the risk of stroke and cardiac complications. A previously undisclosed battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a form of blood cancer that affects white blood cells.
The manner of death was officially ruled as natural.
A spokesperson for the Pinellas County medical examiner’s office confirmed a cremation approval request had been submitted. “I am not aware when Mr. Bollea will be cremated, only that we received a request for cremation approval,” the office told Page Six.
The revelation brings closure to a week filled with speculation surrounding the health of one of the most iconic names in professional wrestling history.
