NJPW New Year Dash Results – January 5, 2024

New Japan Pro Wrestling’s New Year Dash, is the fallout from Wrestle Kingdom 18. The event emanated live from the Sumida City Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan, on January 5th, 2024.

NJPW New Year Dash!! Results (1/5/2024)

* NJPW World Television Championship Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi (c) defeated Ryusuke Taguchi to retain championship

Following the match, Matt Riddle appeared in a video issuing a challenge to Tanahashi. Tanahashi accepted the challenge but admitted that he had no clue who Riddle was.

* Bishamon (YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto) defeated Kaito Kiyomiya & Ryohei Oiwa

* Guerrillas of Destiny (El Phantasmo & Hikuleo) defeated Young Blood (Oskar Leube & Yuto Nakashima)

* House of Torture (Dick Togo, SHO, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, EVIL, Yujiro Takahashi & Ren Narita) defeated Shota Umino, El Desperado, Master Wato, Tama Tonga, Tomoaki Honma, & Togi Makabe

* United Empire (Fransico Akira, TJP, HENARE, Jeff Cobb, & Will Ospreay) vs. Bullet Club War Dogs (Clark Connors, Alex Coughlin, Gabe Kidd, Drilla Moloney, & David Finlay) ends in a no contest

After the match, Will Ospreay took the microphone and called out the Bullet Club. He announced that February 11th was his last NJPW match and issued a challenge for a five-on-five match, United Empire vs. Bullet Club in Osaka, with Finlay picking the rules. Finlay then took the mic and accepted the challenge, deciding the match would be contested in a steel cage.

* Just 5 Guys (SANADA, TAKA Michinoku, Taichi, DOUKI, Yuya Uemura (Just 5 Guys) defeated Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, Shingo Takagi, Yota Tsuji, & Tetsuya Naito

* KOPW 2024 Championship 10-Minute Pinfall Scramble Match: Taiji Ishimori defeated Great-O-Khan, Toru Yano, & YOH to become KOPW 2024 Champion

* TMDK (Zack Sabre Jr., Shane Haste, Mikey Nicholls, & Kosei Fujita defeated Tomohiro Ishii, Jon Moxley, Kazuchika Okada, & Bryan Danielson

After the match, ZSJ challenged Danielson to a rematch, and he accepted. Both men threatened to tap each other out. Kosei Fujita then grabbed the mic and challenged Okada to a match for the NEVER Six-Man belts alongside Haste and Nicholls. Okada said Fujita wasn’t ready and left. After Okada left, Fujita asked the NJPW President, Tanahashi, to make the match happen to close out the show.
