WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam recently spoke on his podcast, โ€œ1 Of A Kind With RVD,โ€ about a variety of professional wrestling topics including his retirement:

โ€œI used to think I was going to retire a few years ago. I havenโ€™t put a lot of thought into it. I just kind of figured semi-retired and I would probably just not pick up bookings anymore eventually or whatever, but now I donโ€™t think I ever will. Why bother? Iโ€™ll probably be like Dory Funk Jr and just never retire. As much as I pride myself on being genuine and honest and I like to set an example by the way I live, I wouldnโ€™t want to retire and then come back two years later and wrestle again like everybody does, but I donโ€™t know that I would miss it and thatโ€™s why I thought it would be easy to do before because people always ask, โ€˜Do you miss it?โ€™ โ€˜No.โ€™ Iโ€™m still doing it. ”

He continued, “Maybe if I didnโ€™t do it and I knew I wasnโ€™t going to do it again, for sure I would have a different perspective, whatever it is, but instead, itโ€™s the opposite. I have one match coming up for sure. I might have three before then that are on the developmental table, letโ€™s say. Letโ€™s see what happens there. Thatโ€™s my thoughts on retirement anyway.”
