WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam recently spoke on his podcast, โ1 Of A Kind With RVD,โ about a variety of professional wrestling topics including his retirement:
โI used to think I was going to retire a few years ago. I havenโt put a lot of thought into it. I just kind of figured semi-retired and I would probably just not pick up bookings anymore eventually or whatever, but now I donโt think I ever will. Why bother? Iโll probably be like Dory Funk Jr and just never retire. As much as I pride myself on being genuine and honest and I like to set an example by the way I live, I wouldnโt want to retire and then come back two years later and wrestle again like everybody does, but I donโt know that I would miss it and thatโs why I thought it would be easy to do before because people always ask, โDo you miss it?โ โNo.โ Iโm still doing it. ”
He continued, “Maybe if I didnโt do it and I knew I wasnโt going to do it again, for sure I would have a different perspective, whatever it is, but instead, itโs the opposite. I have one match coming up for sure. I might have three before then that are on the developmental table, letโs say. Letโs see what happens there. Thatโs my thoughts on retirement anyway.”
