The revival of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic was announced by NXT General Manager Robert Stone on this past Tuesday’s episode of NXT. The Creed Brothers, Julius Creed and Brutus Creed, were revealed as participants. This 14-team, single-elimination tournament will feature teams from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, EVOLVE, and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.
Recently, WWE NXT announced six more teams for the upcoming tournament via their Twitter (X) account. The new teams include Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom), Los Americanos (Rayo Americano and Bravo Americano), AAA’s Mini Vikingo paired with EVOLVE’s Starboy Charlie, BirthRight (Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo and Uriah Connors), DarkState (Cutler James and Osiris Griffin), and “Supernova 11” Noam Dar teaming with Romeo Moreno.
As previously reported by PWMania.com, Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes from The Vanity Project, along with The Wagner Brothers (Galeno and El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.), have automatically qualified for the tournament quarterfinals due to their status as NXT and AAA World Tag Team Champions, respectively. More teams will be announced soon, and the tournament is set to begin this coming Tuesday on NXT.
