Sunday night’s AEW WrestleDream PPV Event saw a 4-Way AEW World Tag Team Championship #1 Contender’s match take place between The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson), The Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo and AEW International Champion Rey Fenix), “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy and FTW Champion HOOK and Bullet Club Gold (Austin Gunn and Colten Gunn), which saw The Young Bucks pick up the win.
During the match, Fenix went down and Penta worked most of the matchup on his own as Fenix was helped to the back by doctors.
Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com revealed via his Twitter (X) account that Fenix’s injury was a work to protect him for his match against Nick Jackson on Wednesday night’s episode of Dynamite.
According to previous reports, Fenix had been banged up following his shocking win over Jon Moxley at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam and he was barely cleared for his championship defense against Jeff Jarrett on this past Wednesday night’s episode of Dynamite.
Updates will be provided on Fenix’s injury once it has been made available.
