Steven Borden’s AEW pay-per-view in-ring debut was cut short after he suffered an apparent injury during Saturday’s All Out 2026 event in Chicago.
Borden teamed with Darby Allin against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight, with the match ending by referee stoppage after Borden was deemed unable to continue.
The injury occurred when Borden collided with Knight in mid-air before landing hard on his back and hitting his head on the mat. After checking on Borden, the referee stopped the match and awarded the victory to Fletcher and Knight.
Later in the broadcast, Tony Schiavone provided an update on Borden’s condition, revealing that AEW President and CEO Tony Khan had informed the commentary team that Borden was conscious and responsive. He was subsequently taken to a hospital for further evaluation.
Schiavone later reported that Borden had undergone a CT scan and was able to remember details from the match.
Former WWE star and concussion expert Chris Nowinski also commented on the incident via Twitter/X, stating that it appeared Borden had suffered a concussion. There has been no official confirmation of a concussion diagnosis.
Khan provided another update during the post-All Out media scrum and shared encouraging news regarding Borden’s condition.
“I have a great update. Thankfully Steven Borden is awake and responsive at the hospital, and he had a CT scan, and all the tests have come back good. So far all good results, and we’re hopeful Steven is going to be able to fly home tomorrow to his family.”
Borden’s appearance at All Out marked his first match on an AEW pay-per-view.
