Former AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) haven’t wrestled since their January 22nd, 2025 title loss to Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin of The Hurt Syndicate, and now their future with AEW appears uncertain.
According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, Private Party’s AEW contracts are set to expire “very soon.” Fightful Select added that WWE had shown early interest in the duo even before knowing the exact terms or expiration dates of their current AEW deals.
It remains unclear whether AEW has made a move to re-sign the team, or whether WWE has formally approached them regarding a potential jump.
Private Party’s most recent run saw them capture the AEW Tag Titles and briefly stand at the top of the division. Their loss to Lashley and Benjamin in January ended a promising reign, but many fans and insiders felt the team was underutilized during their time as champions.
Matt Hardy, who previously managed the team, addressed that very concern on a recent episode of his podcast:
“I would have liked to see their title run optimized, I would’ve liked to see it utilized in a better fashion. I would’ve liked to see them become legit cornerstones of the tag team division,” Hardy said. “I think following up the match with the Young Bucks where they got a huge reaction and it was very organic… I really think there was something you could’ve built on that could’ve made them legitimate stars.”
As the expiration of their contracts approaches, the tag team’s next move will be closely watched — especially with WWE reportedly monitoring the situation. A potential free agency could spark a bidding war for the high-flying duo who made an immediate impact in AEW with their breakout win over the Young Bucks in 2019.
