A new report from Fightful Select has revealed that while Drew McIntyre is currently on a contractual hiatus from WWE, it was World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest who was battling through significant injuries during their recent feud.
Many fans had speculated that McIntyre was dealing with physical setbacks leading into their Cage Match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24. However, the report clarifies that it was Priest who raised more concern internally, as he worked through multiple injuries while continuing his high-profile championship storyline.
Sources within WWE praised Priest’s resilience and toughness, noting that the champion prioritized staying active through the SummerSlam season—an event considered a “home game” for the New York native.
Despite his condition, Priest pushed forward with his schedule, and the report states that WWE has major creative plans in place for him at SummerSlam 2025. Priest is expected to play a featured role at the event as his title reign continues to build momentum.
There’s no word yet on whether his injuries will require time off after SummerSlam, but officials are said to be impressed with how he has handled the physical toll.
