Peter Rosenberg is the latest voice to speak out against Bill Goldberg’s public dissatisfaction with his WWE sendoff—and the longtime Kickoff Show host isn’t holding back.
In a video posted to social media, the popular WWE on-air personality and media host blasted Goldberg for his comments made on The Ariel Helwani Show, where the WWE Hall of Famer expressed frustration that his post-match retirement speech was cut off during NBC’s broadcast of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
“I cannot believe the complaints about his send off,” Rosenberg said bluntly. “Have you guys ever noticed that the people who are the most overbooked, the most over-celebrated, are always the ones who complain?”
“That Match Should’ve Been a Squash”
Rosenberg took aim at Goldberg’s match itself, questioning whether the former Universal Champion even deserved the 15-minute main event slot against reigning World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.
“The man got a 15-minute match. Let’s be honest—it should’ve been a squash. He should’ve been Goldberg’ed. Speared and done,” Rosenberg said. “The guy’s pushing 60. Hasn’t looked good in the ring—some would say, ever—but certainly not in recent years.”
Responding to Goldberg’s specific complaint about his farewell speech being cut off mid-broadcast, Rosenberg pointed to the realities of live network television.
“He still got in a nice little moment and got to be celebrated,” Rosenberg explained. “But listen—NBC is not going to wait. This isn’t USA Network, it’s not Netflix. It’s network TV. When the time slot ends, they’re done. They go when they go. That’s how it works.”
WWE later released the full, uninterrupted version of Goldberg’s speech on its social media platforms, allowing fans to view the complete segment online.
Rosenberg also put Goldberg’s farewell into perspective, comparing it to how other, arguably more respected wrestlers have exited the company.
“Do you know how many people better than Goldberg got released with just a ‘we wish them the best in their future endeavors’ statement?” he asked. “This guy got to stand in the ring, on network television, and be celebrated. You should be thanking your lucky stars for the career you’ve had, the money you’ve made, and the appreciation you’ve gotten—which, frankly, a lot of people feel wasn’t fully earned.”
“To complain like this? I’m so disappointed.”
I respect Goldberg and he seems like a decent man but WTF was he thinking man? He has been collecting check after check against top guys and putting on mediocre matches … and gets a hell of a send off. And then complains?? I'm lost pic.twitter.com/UCUlIipdQe

The backlash stems from Goldberg’s loss to GUNTHER in the Saturday Night’s Main Event headliner on July 12, which had been billed as Goldberg’s retirement match. While WWE presented it as a respectful farewell, Goldberg’s critical remarks have drawn strong reactions from fans and personalities alike—including Busted Open Radio host Dave LaGreca, who also blasted the WWE Hall of Famer earlier this week.
Whether Goldberg truly closes the door on his career remains unclear—but for Rosenberg, one thing is certain: he’s had enough of the complaints.
