Top WWE star CM Punk appeared on OโShea Jackson Jr. and TJ Jeffersonโs No-Contest Wrestling to talk about a number of topics, including believing he was done in pro wrestling after leaving AEW.
Punk said, โWhen I exit AEW, I probably did think that I was done. That happened in August or September. Iโm kind of chilling, and Nick Khan calls me in November. โWhen are you free and clear?โ Iโm like, โNickโฆI was fired.โ Very publicly. โI know. Certainly youโre not telling me thatโฆโ He stopped himself and went, โOkay. We want to talk to you about coming back.โ I was like, โIโm on the way to the gymโ and I think I was flying to Atlantic City the next day for CFFC. โShoot me times next week and weโll get on the phone and talk.โโ
On returning to WWE at Survivor Series in Chicago:
โWheels just started in motion. Youโre on the phone, somebody says something about Survivor Series in Chicago and you go, โOh. We canโt get a deal done in that amount of time, but thatโs the spot.โ How eager are both sides to realize it?(how eager are you?)As eager as they were. When we first started talking, it was the typical Rumble. โYou come in for the Rumble.โ Me, being the creative I am, โI get it, but thatโs what you do with everybody. Everybody gets that.โ It was a gift. Survivor Series is in Chicago. Itโs in three days and one of those three days is Thanksgiving.โ
