CM Punk Discusses Believing He Was Done In Pro Wrestling After Leaving AEW

Top WWE star CM Punk appeared on Oโ€™Shea Jackson Jr. and TJ Jeffersonโ€™s No-Contest Wrestling to talk about a number of topics, including believing he was done in pro wrestling after leaving AEW.

Punk said, โ€œWhen I exit AEW, I probably did think that I was done. That happened in August or September. Iโ€™m kind of chilling, and Nick Khan calls me in November. โ€˜When are you free and clear?โ€™ Iโ€™m like, โ€˜Nickโ€ฆI was fired.โ€™ Very publicly. โ€˜I know. Certainly youโ€™re not telling me thatโ€ฆโ€™ He stopped himself and went, โ€˜Okay. We want to talk to you about coming back.โ€™ I was like, โ€˜Iโ€™m on the way to the gymโ€™ and I think I was flying to Atlantic City the next day for CFFC. โ€˜Shoot me times next week and weโ€™ll get on the phone and talk.โ€™โ€

On returning to WWE at Survivor Series in Chicago:

โ€œWheels just started in motion. Youโ€™re on the phone, somebody says something about Survivor Series in Chicago and you go, โ€˜Oh. We canโ€™t get a deal done in that amount of time, but thatโ€™s the spot.โ€™ How eager are both sides to realize it?(how eager are you?)As eager as they were. When we first started talking, it was the typical Rumble. โ€˜You come in for the Rumble.โ€™ Me, being the creative I am, โ€˜I get it, but thatโ€™s what you do with everybody. Everybody gets that.โ€™ It was a gift. Survivor Series is in Chicago. Itโ€™s in three days and one of those three days is Thanksgiving.โ€
