WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam (RVD) recently appeared on his โ1 Of A Kindโ podcast episode. He discussed several topics, including how many times he has bladed in matches.
RVD said, โIn my whole career, you know, how many times I got โ letโs call it, requested color? Twice. Every other time was the hardway. I busted myself open so many times, thereโs so many photos of me bloody throughout my career. Thatโs not because before the match I thought, โYou know what be cool? Iโm gonna slice myself open and then make it even better, and thatโll be cool.โ No, that was hardway s**t. That was me working, busting myself open every time except for two. Both were post-ECW, post-2001 WWE.โ
On not liking wrestlers bleeding in matches:
โI always hated it when Balls [Mahoney] would come up to me before the match. โIs it okay with you if I bleed tonight?โ No motherf***er, why do you gotta bleed every f***ing match? I mean, if it happens, it happens. Why do you gotta f***ing โ what do you get out of that? It doesnโt make the match better. Iโve always felt that way, personally. And I know not everyone agrees with my opinion, which is fine, itโs subjective. Some people love that s**t.โ
