WWE Superstar Sami Zayn has made a bold statement in the world of tag team wrestling — declaring that Mark and Jay Briscoe, known collectively as The Briscoes, are the greatest tag team of all time.
The former multi-time tag team champion shared his opinion on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) in response to a heartfelt post by Mark Briscoe, who was reflecting on the anniversary of his and his late brother Jay’s tag team debut.
“In terms of actual output and body of work over time, I say best tag team of all time,” Zayn wrote.
Zayn’s statement places the Briscoes ahead of many iconic WWE tag teams, including The Hardyz, The Dudleyz, The Usos, and The New Day — a powerful nod of respect from someone who has been part of several major duos in his own right.
The Briscoes carved out a legendary career together, capturing an unmatched 13 Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships, alongside gold in TNA Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling (IWGP Tag Team Titles), and Pro Wrestling NOAH (GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Titles). Their in-ring chemistry, intensity, and longevity have earned them a place in tag team history across the independent and international wrestling scenes.
Tragically, the Briscoes’ incredible run came to an end in January 2023, following the untimely passing of Jay Briscoe in a car accident. Since then, Mark Briscoe has continued to honor his brother’s legacy, competing as a respected singles competitor across AEW and other promotions.
