The recent WWE exits of R-Truth and Carlito were reportedly decisions made under the direction of WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.
Both veterans confirmed via social media that their contracts were not renewed, sparking widespread reactions from fans and fellow wrestlers. Behind the scenes, the moves were said to be part of ongoing cost-cutting efforts within WWE’s evolving talent strategy.
“They’re numbers,” Meltzer explained. “They’re looking at the numbers, and they’re looking at how many do we have to cut, or how much money do we have to cut? And those were the picks. Those were the Levesque picks. And that’s what it is.”
While Meltzer noted WWE may not view Carlito as a significant loss, he acknowledged R-Truth’s unique charisma, saying, “R-Truth is really funny.”
Despite their departures, both men received an outpouring of support online from fans and talent alike, especially R-Truth, whose legacy of entertainment, loyalty, and longevity left a profound mark on the WWE locker room.
