Bryan Danielson got physical in a wrestling ring for the first time since his reported retirement match last year, creating a major moment following Wednesdayโs AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam Mexico broadcast from Arena Mรฉxico.
After the show went off the air, Danielson made a surprise appearance to rescue his longtime idol Blue Panther, who was under attack from heels in a post-match beatdown. Danielson directed several luchadors to the ring for backup before stepping into the squared circle himself and delivering a devastating Busaiku Knee to clear the ring, sending the live crowd into a frenzy.

The appearance is especially significant considering Danielsonโs history. He has not been medically cleared to wrestle since his high-stakes match with Jon Moxley at AEW WrestleDream 2024, a bout promoted as his full-time retirement due to persistent neck issues. Since then, Danielson has taken on a backstage role within AEW, continuing to help shape the companyโs future behind the scenes.
His surprise physical involvement in Mexico City marks the first time heโs thrown a strike or taken action in the ring in nearly a year, leading many to question whether his medical status may have changedโor if this was a carefully choreographed exception to ignite speculation.
AEW has yet to officially comment on Danielsonโs status or whether a return to in-ring competition is being considered.
