Official: WWE SmackDown Returning To Two-Hour Format Starting July 4

During Tuesday night’s episode of WWE SmackDown, commentator Michael Cole officially announced that the blue brand will revert to its two-hour format starting Friday, July 4.

The change comes as the USA Network prepares to debut a new original series titled The Rainmaker, which will occupy the show’s third hour timeslot at 11 PM ET moving forward.

SmackDown had temporarily expanded to a three-hour format earlier this year. WWE stated at the time that the extended runtime was a limited-time adjustment, and the decision to return to the traditional two-hour structure was expected.

The July 4th episode will now run from 8 PM to 10 PM ET, with The Rainmaker airing immediately after.
