During a recent episode of Cody Rhodesโ podcast โSo What Do You Wanna Talk About?โ, WWE Superstar Kevin Owens opened up about the infamous dune buggy crash in Saudi Arabia that involved himself, WWE announcer Cathy Kelley, and producer Jamie Noble.
The accident took place last November during a WWE trip to the Middle East, and while Kelley had previously credited Owens with saving her life, the former Universal Champion offered a more grounded take on the incidentโwith a dose of humor.
โIf you wanna take a tumble in the desert in a golf cart with people, Jamie Noble, Cathy Kelleyโbest people you could do it with,โ Owens said with a laugh.
Owens explained that while driving up a steep dune, he noticed the buggy ahead nearly tip over and realized they were about to experience the same fate. His first thought? Protecting Kelley.
โIn my head, I go, โCathy doesnโt know how to keep her fโking hands in.โ So I just reached around and grabbed her arms, and as weโre rolling, Iโm holding on to her,โ Owens shared. โI didnโt save her life, I didnโt save her arms, but I tried to make sure she was safe.โ
He described the surreal moment immediately following the rollover:
โWeโre upside down in the golf cart, thereโs sand pouring down our face, our ears, everything. And all we hear is Jamie Noble going, โMy ribs, my ribs, my ribs, my ribs, ahhhโฆ Iโm okay.โโ
While the accident could have ended badly, all three walked away with no serious injuries. Owensโ instinctive actions and Nobleโs comedic timing made the wild ride a memorable moment for the crew.
