Wrestling Veteran Praises WWE Women’s World Title Storyline

Wrestling veteran Tommy Dreamer is calling for the WWE Women’s World Championship to take center stage at SummerSlam 2025—and he believes the current rivalry between Naomi, Iyo Sky, and Rhea Ripley has all the ingredients to headline one of the two nights in Cleveland.

Speaking on his Busted Open After Dark podcast, Dreamer passionately endorsed the direction of WWE’s women’s division, specifically pointing to the standout performances in the Evolution II main event and its aftermath.

“I’m starting to look at Iyo Sky in a whole new light,” Dreamer said, placing the former champion among a rare class of elite, innovative performers. “And when I say different, I mean performers like Rob Van Dam, Sabu, Will Ospreay, AJ Styles, Shawn Michaels. I put people in different categories based on how they move, how they work—and Iyo’s there.”

Dreamer praised the Evolution II showdown between Sky and Ripley as “freaking amazing”, further cementing his belief that the women’s division is delivering some of WWE’s most compelling content.

The drama didn’t end at Evolution, however. Naomi, who won the Money in the Bank contract earlier this year, made a shocking cash-in following the match, and captured the Women’s World Championship. On the next night’s Raw, Naomi turned heads again—this time with a powerful heel promo that drew high praise from Dreamer.

“Her promo was brilliant,” he explained. “When the fans chanted ‘You deserve it,’ she basically gave them the middle finger—without actually doing it. She said, ‘Where were you? You weren’t feeling the glow…’ and completely flipped the script. I loved it.”

Dreamer also applauded Naomi’s evolving persona and newfound swagger on the mic.

“This new character—her laugh, her delivery, the way she commands attention—it’s all clicking. Every time you hand her a microphone, she’s more confident. She’s phenomenal.”

As a result of the post-match chaos and Raw confrontation, WWE has made it official: Naomi will defend the Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky in a blockbuster Triple Threat Match at SummerSlam.

With the feud gaining momentum, Dreamer strongly believes the match deserves a main event slot at WWE’s historic two-night SummerSlam, scheduled for August 2 and 3 in Cleveland, Ohio.
