WWE star Matt Cardona discussed various topics with The Wrestling Classic, including his appearance on the latest season of WWE: Unreal.
Cardona said, “I mean, listen, the fact that I got to show off my toys on Unreal was cool. The fact that I’m back in WWE. Cuz when Chelsea was doing Unreal season 1, I wasn’t allowed to be hidden. They were like, I’d come home, and they’d be like, ‘You can’t be.’ I’m like, ‘This is my kitchen. I’m cooking breakfast. Don’t tell me where I could cook my breakfast.’ You know, I just got off like a three-day Indie Loop, and they’re like, ‘No, you can’t cook breakfast.’ Like, ‘I’m cooking breakfast. Shoot around me.’ So now, the fact that they’re, you know, filming me and filming the toy room and and filming the relationship between me and Chelsea, I love it.”
On the importance of his Death Match with Nick Gage:
“It’s been 5 years since that death match with Nick Gage. Documentary on my YouTube channel. Check it out. Yeah, I don’t think I’d be here talking to you. I don’t think I’d be back in WWE if it wasn’t for that death match and everything that came from that death match. So, like, that death match
with Nick Gage, it changed my career, and it changed my life. Go watch the documentary. It was a wild time, dude.”
On his dream WWE entrance theme song:
“When the Lights Go Down, by Downstait, my indie song. That’s what I wanted to use when I came back to WWE. I unfortunately wasn’t allowed to, but that’s my favorite song obviously because it’s mine. But like they wrote that song for me like when I got released from WWE because like back in the day they did like a a rock version of the ‘Radio,’ like the Zack Ryder song, and they just put it on YouTube and like it was really really cool and then like once I won the IC title, I went to like people in charge like, ‘Can we switch it to this like Downstait, this rock version?’ Turns out like Downstait wasn’t a band anymore. So they had to like get the band back together to record that song, and then they’ve been a band ever since. And then I put them in contact with Cody [Rhodes], who made Cody’s song, you know, and then when I got released they said, ‘Hey, if you ever want music, we’ll make it.’ I said, ‘I want music. I need it now.’ And so they made this song just for me, and I loved it. It went all over the world with me. So I’d like for it to play one day in WWE.”
