Bayley’s recent social media activity has reportedly attracted attention backstage in WWE as speculation continues over her contractual future and a possible move to AEW.
Bayley recently posted a training montage showing herself working at several different locations and alongside wrestlers outside WWE, including Mercedes Moné. Adding to the speculation was her choice of music, a song titled “All In,” sharing its name with AEW’s upcoming pay-per-view at Wembley Stadium.
According to Fightful, there is no substantial update regarding Bayley’s WWE contract, but the video itself did not go unnoticed within the company.
“While Wrestle Votes on Fightful Select does not have a substantial update on Bayley’s contract status with WWE, they’ve learned that the social media video she posted did not ‘land well with everyone.’”
Fightful added that some people backstage found the montage particularly noteworthy because of who Bayley was training with.
“It was relayed that the video she posted of highlights of her training at different locations with different wrestlers, including Mercedes Mone, was viewed by some backstage as ‘eyebrow-raising.’”
Despite the apparent teasing, Bryan Alvarez says fans should not expect Bayley to appear at AEW All In on August 30.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Alvarez said people he has spoken with in AEW are themselves unsure what to make of Bayley’s posts.
“At least amongst those within AEW – first off, everyone I talked to is also baffled by this whole thing.”
According to Alvarez, the belief within AEW is that Bayley remains under WWE contract for considerably longer than some of the recent speculation has suggested.
“The belief is that her deal is not up for a while. Maybe as long as January, and that is if they don’t add any time.”
That would rule out the possibility of Bayley becoming a free agent in time for All In, regardless of whether the social media posts were intended to fuel speculation.
“So, long story short, she ain’t going to be at All In.”
Alvarez also questioned why Bayley and Moné appear to be playing into the possibility of something happening at Wembley if Bayley remains under contract.
“I don’t know why her and Mercedes are teasing a match at All In, but it ain’t going to happen.”
Bayley’s contractual status remains unclear beyond the reporting that she has not yet agreed to a new WWE deal. Dave Meltzer previously said WWE’s position was that Bayley “has a decision to make,” with a potential return to television against Lyra Valkyria if she re-signs.
For now, the AEW speculation continues, but Alvarez’s reporting indicates that even if Bayley ultimately decides to leave WWE, an appearance at All In later this month is not on the table.
