WWE has announced that reigning Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn will defend his title against former champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes on next week’s episode of Monday Night RAW at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. The announcement does not clarify whether this match will be a dark match for the live audience or if it will be televised and included in the broadcast.
The announcement reads, “JUST ANNOUNCED! Get your tickets now to see Undisputed WWE Champion @SamiZayn vs. @CodyRhodes LIVE this Monday in San Diego!”
Ironically, Zayn was initially scheduled to defend his title against Rhodes on the July 6th episode of RAW in Chicago, Illinois. However, at the start of the show, Rhodes was taken out by GUNTHER. As a result, Zayn faced a surprise opponent: a returning CM Punk. Punk went on to defeat Zayn and win the title. Zayn later reclaimed the championship from Punk on the September 11th episode of SmackDown. Now, the title match that was originally set for RAW on July 6th is taking place over three months later.
