WWE NXT Reportedly Set For Wednesday Move Against AEW Blood & Guts

WWE NXT could be returning to Wednesday nights for a special one-week schedule change that would put the brand directly against AEW’s upcoming Blood & Guts edition of Dynamite.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, The CW is reportedly interested in moving the November 3, 2026, episode of NXT to Wednesday, November 4, due to coverage of the United States midterm elections.

The potential change stems from concerns that Tuesday night’s election coverage could lead to NXT being preempted by numerous CW affiliates across the country.

Meltzer emphasized that the move has not been officially confirmed, although he believes it is likely to happen. “I don’t know this 100%,” Meltzer said. “I was told by people who know that CW wants to move NXT to that Wednesday. It probably will be moved because if it’s on Tuesday, it’ll be preempted on far too many stations.”

If the change is finalized, NXT would air directly opposite AEW Dynamite’s annual Blood & Guts special, which is scheduled to take place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

The timing would also place NXT in an unusual position, as the episode would follow the Halloween Havoc premium live event on Saturday, October 31.

Meltzer discussed the potential scheduling conflict and the challenge WWE could face competing against one of AEW’s biggest television events of the year. “That’s the night of Blood and Guts,” Meltzer continued. “AEW has the two Blood and Guts matches they set up tonight that are going to be pretty wild. I don’t know that AEW knows any of this right now, but obviously they will in five minutes.”

Meltzer suggested that WWE would need to create significant momentum coming out of Halloween Havoc to generate interest in the following week’s NXT broadcast. “NXT is going to have to shoot a big angle on Halloween Havoc because it’s a tough situation.”

Another interesting aspect of the potential move is that WWE could have three separate programs airing against AEW Blood & Guts.

WWE Evolve and WWE Main Event are already scheduled for Wednesday night, meaning NXT’s reported move would add another WWE broadcast to the same evening. “WWE will actually have three shows going against Blood and Guts. They’re going to have NXT, which isn’t 100% but is probable, the Evolve show, and the Main Event show, all at the same time,” Meltzer explained. “They’re competing with themselves on three levels, and they’re competing with one of AEW’s signature shows of the year on their own night.”

Meanwhile, AEW continued building toward Blood & Guts during the October 21 episode of Dynamite, revealing the participants for the men’s match.

The announced lineup features Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, Wardlow, Kevin Knight, Mark Davis and Jake Doyle representing the Don Callis Family against Will Ospreay, Adam Copeland, Steven Borden, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson and Darby Allin.

With Blood & Guts already positioned as a major episode of Dynamite, a potential NXT schedule change would create another head-to-head Wednesday night showdown between the two promotions.

However, neither WWE nor The CW has officially announced a change to NXT’s November 3 broadcast.

Until confirmation is issued, the reported move to November 4 remains a possibility rather than a finalized scheduling decision.
