AEW Rampage: Homecoming Review – January 12, 2024

Continental Crown Match
Eddie Kingston (c) vs. Wheeler Yuta

Match starts off with a lock up then they take turns locking one another in submission holds before the action spills to the outside and Wheeler Yuta delivers a tope suicida.

He sends Eddie Kingston’s arm bouncing off the apron then ascends to the top rope and hits a crossbody to him in the ring.

Kingston delivers a series of rapid fire chops before they find themselves back on the outside and Yuta sends Kingston’s arm bouncing off the barricade.

Yuta then delivers a dropkick to Kingston on the ramp and stomps on his tricep.

They get back inside the ring and Yuta locks in a shoulder submission on Kingston then connects with a dropkick as we go to a break.

After the break Yuta hits a pair of knees to Kingston’s elbow before Kingston hits a modified belly 2 belly suplex and sits Yuta on the top rope then fires off several chops.

Yuta continues wearing down Kingston’s arm and hits a German suplex then follows it up with an Angle Slam and a splash from the top rope.

Kingston levels Yuta with a suplex and Uraken then hits a Brainbuster for the win.

Winner & Still Continental Crown Champion: Eddie Kingston (17:13) (STILL CHAMPION!!!)

Swerve Strickland vs. Matt Sydal

Match starts off with a lock up before Matt Sydal hits a hurricanrana before they take turns rolling one another up.

Swerve Strickland delivers a tilt a whirl backbreaker and sends Sydal crashing into the top turnbuckle face first but Strickland responds with an elbow to Sydal’s back off the ropes and takes a quick dance break.

He cinches in a Torture Rack and drops down to his knees to relinquish it then looks to land a powerbomb but Sydal lands a hurricanrana and delivers a jumping knee.

Strickland connects with a flatliner and a Brainbuster then looks for Swerve Stomp off the top but Sydal avoids it and Strickland plants him with JML Driver for the win.

Winner: Swerve Strickland (4:30)

We then head backstage and see Private Party interrupt an interview between Renee Paquette, Top Flight & Action Andretti. Private Party challenges Top Flight & Andretti to a tag team match and they accept.

Hikaru Shida vs. Queen Aminata

Match starts off with a lock up before Hikaru Shida hits a shoulder tackle and rains down right hands on Aminata in the corner.

Aminata responds with a pair of hip attacks in the corner as we go to a break.

After the break Shida delivers a kick to Aminata’s spine before Aminata responds with one of her own and they go back & forth landing them on one another.

Shida hits a dragon screw to Aminata then hits a suplex before Aminata responds with a German suplex and looks to fly but Shida moves out of the way and delivers a kick.

She follows it up with Falcon Arrow and goes for a pin but Aminata kicks out then hits Katana for the win.

Winner: Hikaru Shida (8:50)

After the match Shida helps Aminata up and gives her a hug.

We then head backstage to The Outcasts standing by with Renee Paquette. Saraya shows Soho a video of Angelo Parker kissing Harley Cameron before Parker walks in with a cake signing Happy Birthday for Soho. Soho shoves the cake into Parker’s face and storms off as Parker insists that the video isn’t what it looks like.

Trios Match
Dark Order (Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds & John Silver) vs. Angelo Parker, Matt Menard & Jake Hager

John Silver & Angelo Parker lock up to get this match started before Jake Hager gives his chain to Parker but Silver steals it. Hager runs Silver over and tags in Matt Menard.

Menard sends Silver crashing into the top turnbuckle face first but Alex Reynolds tags in and hits a running uppercut.

Silver tags back in and Dark Order triple team on Menard as we go to a break.

After the break Evil Uno & Parker tag in. Uno hits  a neckbreaker and a boot then hits a senton off the top rope but Parker catches him with a right hand.

Silver becomes legal and delivers a forearm to Parker then follows it up with a pair of kicks and an enzuigiri from the apron then hits a knee to the back of Parker’s neck and connects with a German suplex.

Dark Order then hits Pendulum Bomb and Silver goes for a pin but Menard breaks up the fall. Reynolds tags in and holds Ang up with Uno as Silver ascends to the top rope.

Menard trips Silver and delivers a double DDT with Reynolds. Hager follows it up with a Vader Bomb and goes for a pin but Reynolds kicks out.

Hager cinches in an Ankle Lock but releases it once he sees that Negative One has his purple bucket hat.

He takes it back opening the door for Reynolds & Silver to double team and deliver a rolling forearm, an enziguri, a Stunner and a German suplex for the win.

Winners: Dark Order (10:24)
