Quarter Final Match Of The 2023 Grand Slam Tournament
Pentagon Jr vs. Jay Lethal
Pentagon Jr & Jay Lethal stare each other down before shoving one another. Pentagon delivers an arm drag and Lethal offers his hand to him. Pentagon looks to shake it but Lethal moves it away before he can as an act of disrespect.
Pentagon lands a superkick and they exchange overhand chops before Pentagon delivers a series of kicks to Lethal’s thigh then looks for a hurricanrana. Lethal stays on his feet and looks to cinch in a Figure 4 but Pentagon avoids it and drapes Lethal off the middle turnbuckle.
He ascends to the top rope and delivers a double stomp then follows it up with a overhand chop and sends Lethal on the apron then Pentagon delivers an enzuigiri that sends him crashing on the floor and looks to go flying but Lethal moves out of the way.
Pentagon tries to fly again but Satnam Singh catches him and sends him into the ring post spine first. Jeff Jarrett then distracts the referee as Karen Jarrett & Sonjay Dutt use Pentagon’s mask to tie him up to the ropes but the referee catches them and ejects them from ringside that takes us to a break.
After the break Lethal sends Pentagon crashing into the corner then Pentagon fires back with a kick to Lethal’s jaw then executes a pair of Sling Blades. Lethal rolls out of the ring and Pentagon goes flying over the top to take him down. He gets him back in the ring and ascends to the top before landing a double stomp.
Lethal lands Lethal Combination and looks to cinch in a Figure 4 but Pentagon evades the hold. Lethal rips Pentagon’s mask off and grabs the guitar set up in the corner while the referee helps Pentagon put his mask back on.
Alex Abrahantes grabs the guitar from Lethal then he looks for Lethal Injection but Pentagon catches him with a backstabber before he sends his arm bouncing off the apron and follows it up with Fear Factor for the win.
Winner: Pentagon Jr
Chris Jericho gets up from the commentary desk and Sammy Guevara says that the two of them are pissing each other off. Guevara says he’s at the point where he wants to punch Jericho in the face and Jericho shares that sentiment with him. Guevara says he wants to do it right now and Jericho says they’re getting on each other’s nerves. He says that’s okay because they’re brothers but they can’t seem to get over their animosity. He says they need to get their frustrations out of their system and suggests they have a 1 on 1 match in order to set their sights on the AEW World Tag Team Titles. Guevara asks where he wants to do that and Jericho suggests they do it at Grand Slam. Guevara agrees and they shake hands before hugging.
Trios Match
Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida & Skye Blue vs. Taya Valkyrie, Anna Jay & The Bunny
Skye Blue rolls up The Bunny but Bunny kicks out then Taya Valkyrie tags in and Blue delivers a forearm. Valkyrie fires back with one of her own then delivers a chop. Blue returns the favor and they go back & forth with chops and forearms. Valkyrie then sends Blue crashing into the mat face first that takes us to a break.
After the break Blue delivers a back elbow to Valkyrie and tags in Hikaru Shida & Anna Jay tags in and Shida gets her up on her shoulder. Valkyrie provides a hand to Jay but Blue hits her with a kick. Valkyrie levels Jay & Shida takes out Valkyrie then Jay goes after Shida but Britt Baker takes Jay down.
Baker & Bunny tag in & Baker delivers a double underhook suplex and Shida looks to go flying off the top rope but Bunny ducks out of the way. Bunny then sends Baker crashing into Shida and levels her before Baker manages to cinch in Lockjaw for the win.
Winners: Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida & Skye Blue
After the match Shida questions what happens and storms away from ringside.
Tag Team Match
Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) vs. Matt Menard & Angelo Parker
Young Bucks deliver a double arm drag then they then catch Matt Menard with a double dropkick before Nick Jackson begins wearing down Angelo Parker’s arm. Matt Jackson tags in and delivers a double stomp to Parker’s arm as Nick holds him in place. He follows it up with series of suplexes then catching Menard with a double one on the last of them.
Menard tags in and delivers a brainbuster. Parker tags in and delivers a suplex then tags Menard back in. Menard whips Matt into the corner, but Matt manages to tag in Nick. Nick delivers a crossbody off the top rope then begins going after both men before Young Bucks hits BTE Trigger to Menard for the win.
Winners: Young Bucks
Quarter Final Match Of The 2023 Grand Slam Tournament
Samoa Joe vs. Jeff Hardy
Jeff Hardy delivers a double ax handle to Samoa Joe then follows it up with a dropkick to his spine and a kick to his face then goes flying off the middle rope. Joe then delivers a series of strikes to Hardy as we go to a break.
After the break Joe delivers a kick under the bottom rope that sends Hardy crashing to the outside. Hardy rolls back inside the ring and Joe fires off right hands on him in the corner then he whips him into the opposite corner before Hardy goes flying off the top rope.
He follows it up with a pair of back elbows and a Manhattan Drop then delivers a dropkick to his face and a standing elbow drop. Hardy lands a kick under Joe’s jaw and looks for the Twist Of Fate but Joe counters it and locks in the Coquina Clutch for the win.
Winner By Submission: Samoa Joe (He will face Pentagon Jr in the Semi Finals)
