In one of the most unexpected and buzzworthy moments of WrestleMania 41, TNA World Champion Joe Hendry made a surprise appearance during Night Two of the event, stepping in as a last-minute replacement for the injured Kevin Owens to face Randy Orton.
According to multiple sources, Hendry remains under contract with TNA Wrestling. However, WWE reportedly reached out to the Scottish star shortly after it was confirmed that Owens would not be medically cleared for the match. An agreement was quickly and quietly put in place, allowing Hendry to appear at WrestleMania, marking a rare and historic cross-promotional moment.
Notably, many within TNA — including officials and talent — were unaware of Hendry’s involvement until late Saturday evening, just one day before his WrestleMania debut.
