With interest from both NJPW and WWE, one major New Japan Pro Wrestling star is in a good spot right now. She will almost certainly receive offers from other promotions, including TNA and AEW, which work with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
On Monday, it was reported that there is massive WWE interest in Giulia, a major international star, with one person stating that talks are far enough along that Giulia is expected at the WWE Performance Center sometime in November.
She defeated Willow Nightingale to win the New Japan Strong Women’s Championship. Dave Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that the NJPW is not allowed to sign with anyone, including WWE, until her contract expires in March.
โSo this is the Giulia story. Sheโs under contract until March. So, up until March, nothingโs happening. I know Mike Johnsonโฆ..was correct in reporting that thereโs interest, but thereโs been interest in her since 2019,” Meltzer said.
“It is a story now because thereโs more interest in her now, but sheโs not going anywhere until March,” Meltzer added. “The thing with Guila is, she was born in England, but she doesnโt know [fluent] Englishโฆ.She does have the look, but sheโs going to have to learn Englishโฆ.The part about her going to the Performance Center, Iโve had people deny that.”
“Weโll find out, but I was told that her schedule is booked for the rest of the year. She is coming to the United States in January for the show in San Jose, but sheโs under contract and, unless Bushiroad gives the okay and I donโt know why they would, she wouldnโt really be allowed to do a WWE tryout right now. So I don’t know if that one is happening. I asked at WWE and they also told me the same thing, they told me that was not happening but theyโre very interested in her,” Meltzer stated.
Meltzer added that she verbally committed to NJPW after March to do more.
