As global tensions escalate following U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities amid Iran’s ongoing conflict with Israel, questions have emerged regarding WWE’s upcoming Night of Champions Premium Live Event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Iran’s foreign minister has issued warnings of potential “consequences” in response to the strikes, sparking concern over international travel and safety in the region—especially for global entertainment brands like WWE.
According to a report from Cory Hays of Bodyslam.net, WWE is actively monitoring the situation but, as of now, has no plans to alter its current travel schedule or relocate SmackDown and Night of Champions, both of which are scheduled to take place in Riyadh this weekend.
“WWE is keeping an eye on the situation in the Middle East, but as of right now, there are no plans to move SmackDown and Night of Champions from Riyadh,” Hays reported.
Fightful Select also provided an update, noting that on-the-ground preparations in Saudi Arabia are continuing without disruption. One local source involved with the event described the status as “full steam ahead” as of Sunday afternoon.
“At least in Saudi Arabia, those around the event are preparing as if the event is happening,” Fightful wrote. “One source, speaking from personal opinion, didn’t believe it would be postponed or canceled, citing the significant financial stakes involved, especially with the upcoming Royal Rumble also scheduled for the region.”
Additionally, sources emphasized Saudi Arabia’s strong internal security measures, with one noting, “Saudi is one of the safest places in the world” in relation to current geopolitical tensions. Another added that WWE would likely receive government-backed assurances of safety for talent and crew.
WWE has previously held multiple successful events in Saudi Arabia as part of its long-term partnership with the General Entertainment Authority. While the promotion is aware of the broader global context, internal sources suggest no imminent change in plans unless the situation significantly deteriorates.
