Backstage News On WWE’s Original Plans For Liv Morgan & Nikki Bella

As previously noted, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Liv Morgan suffered a legitimate shoulder injury during the June 16th edition of Monday Night RAW, which has forced major changes to WWE’s summer creative plans. One such change involved the unexpected absence of WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella, who had been advertised for the show.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that Nikki Bella was indeed backstage at RAW and was originally slated for an on-screen segment tied to her developing storyline with Morgan.

“Nikki Bella was there and she was going to do a run-in in the Liv Morgan–Kairi Sane match to help set up, you know, this next part of the angle,” Meltzer stated. “But they decided, for whatever reason, I guess because everything was a panic at that point… they probably didn’t put her out on a promo, because it’s like, well, if [Liv’s] okay… I mean, what do you say?”

Bella’s appearance was reportedly meant to further her new rivalry with Morgan, which had just begun the week prior when Morgan attacked her in a backstage segment.

With Morgan now expected to miss up to six months of action due to a shoulder injury that will require surgery, WWE is being forced to pivot their plans for the Women’s Tag Team Championship picture and the highly anticipated Evolution 2 event.
